1.Keep Windows security updates current.You can install them through by setting up the automatic updates on or visit the Windows update center site.
2.If you didn't know the average unprotected PC connected to the internet can be hacked in under 6 minutes without surfing the web. So yes of course you a good antivirus software program.
3.Another important thing is that you need a really good leak proof firewall. This will block and alot of incoming and outgoing traffic. It allows you to block certain things you don't want to enter your computer. I know for me the best firewalls are so good that they are annoying and most people in general people don't know which programs they don't need and they do need. Thats is one of biggest down fall that most people are hesitant to install a firewall but is is well worth it.
4.As I mentioned earlier about keeping Windows up to date and current. Other programs installed on your computer need to be updated as well. No software is perfect and they all have security vulnerbilities thats why it's so important.Hackers just don't just try to get into your PC through Windows they try also through other programs too.They also don't care who you are they main goal is to get your confidential info or just hack you just simply the idea that they know they can.
